Yay, We found…WMD? Nope.
December 19, 2003
I’m sorry, I thought the Coalition of those willing to be browbeaten and bullied by the US was looking for WMD in Iraq. Apparently that’s no longer relevant, despite the fact it was the preeminent stated reason for invading that country. Well, I guess it all fell by the wayside in the semiotic triumph of capturing an old man in hole. The Israelis think he was a prisoner long before his “capture” by the US.
Fraud at US Ballot Stations
December 19, 2003
As a technology professional I know that, the more complex things get, the more chance there is for abuse, misuse, and plain old chicanary. The United States is going through this right now. The 2000 US election controversy seems to have spawned more opportunities for screw-ups than solutions. have a look at www.blackboxvoting.com.

Saddam remains dangerous
December 17, 2003
Saddam Hussein is a dangerous man. At least, he’s dangerous to all those people who, over the years, collaborated with him and excused the criminal behaviour now universally condemned. A Saddam trial could bring up a lot of names and make a lot of top US, French, German, Russian,, etc. public figures quite nervous. Guys like Saddam don’t survive as long as he did without help.
On another matter, I can’t believe how the capture of Saddam has been over-hyped. Universally described as “dramatic,” it really was nothing more than helping an old man out of a hole in the ground. The 750k was undoubtedly road money. And we are expected to believe he was orchestrating and funding a national insurgency from the corner of a sheep pasture? Please. That Bush is getting a boost from this is truly a sign of how desperate Americans are for any good news. Fact is, despite all thier high-tech and jack-boot techniques, it took them nine months to find him, and he was right there all along, in a hut, eating mars bars. Pathetic.
